$3,500 Business Class to Germany & London for <50K Points

Hey Reader,

In case you missed it, both Amex and the "Blue Bank" (a common bank I'm not allowed to name in email, but ask if you don't know what it is!) are offering 30% transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic.

I'm here to walk you through 3 ways to maximize this transfer bonus for business-class flights to London and Germany (including in the ultra-exclusive Delta One first class).

Before we dive in, I'm considering creating a course called "Upgrade University" focused on luxury travel tips just like this using points. If you're interested, please join the waitlist. Your feedback will help me decide whether to develop this course!

Luxury Travel Tip Highlight: Fall in Europe ($3,500 flight value) 🍁

Both Amex and the Blue Bank are offering a 30% transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic. Here are 3 ways you can maximize it:

1. Book Business Class to London in a Plane with an Onboard Bar Space

There's wide-open availability for business class travel to London in September/October. With the transfer bonus, this ticket would cost you just 37,000 points for business class! But, beware of the taxes 💰. You're looking at ~$1,000 to fly into London, but that may be worth it to fly on a plane with an onboard bar (you could avoid this fee by looking for flights to nearby cities like Paris, but I wasn't seeing much availability)

How to Book:

  1. Head to Virgin's booking page
  2. Select "Show Flexible Dates" and "Show Price In: Points" for "Upper Class"
  3. You will see a week of results. To see a month, change the url where it says "flexible-dates" to "flexible-calendar". Do not change anything else in the URL.
  4. Transfer 37,000 Blue Bank or Amex Points to Virgin and book!

How to Earn Blue Bank or Amex Points:

Haven't started earning these points yet? My favorite beginner card offers a 75,000 point welcome bonus that would cover your + a companion's ticket once you meet the minimum spend (learn more here), or you could earn that from the Green, Gold, or Platinum Amex cards here.

Not sure which card is right for you? I offer free consultations based on your goals.

2. Book Delta One to Frankfurt for a 90% Discount

Delta One is exceptional, and exceptionally expensive. A sweet spot for Virgin points is booking a Delta One flight on the Virgin website. I'm seeing a Delta One ticket to Frankfurt for 50,000 points on Virgin (39,000 with the transfer bonus!) instead of 335,000 on Delta 😱

3. Book Domestic Delta Flights

Not ready for international travel yet? You can use the bonus to book domestic flights on Delta. As mentioned above, Delta and Virgin are partners, and it's often cheaper to book a Delta flight via Virgin, instead of directly on the Delta website.

Hey Reader, I get a lot of questions this time of year about paying taxes with a credit card. Can you do it? Does it actually earn good points? Is the fee worth it? Here’s the deal: yes, you can pay your taxes with a credit card. And yes, there’s a fee. But in the right scenario, it can absolutely be worth it—especially if you’re working toward a big welcome bonus or using a card that earns valuable points. Like, roundtrip-to-Europe-in-business-class level points. 👉 In fact, this is one of...

Hey Reader,Well, it finally happened—Southwest just announced it’s cutting the two free checked bags policy that made it a fan favorite. So what now? Are we all doomed to pay $35 per bag forever? Not quite. I put together a guide on how to still fly with free checked bags, even if you’re not loyal to any one airline. From credit cards that reimburse fees to airline-specific perks, this article has everything you need to keep your luggage (and your budget) under control. Maybe in an effort to...

Hey Reader, Exploring castles built in the 11th century. Stay tuned for a guide! I'm interrupting my vacation in Spain (life is rough, I know), because my favorite beginner travel card has a new offer worth $1,500+. If you've been a member of the Inside the Upgrade family for a while, you know I rarely promote specific cards, so you can trust this is a good deal. I personally already have this card so I'm bummed I don't qualify, but I hope some of you are able to take advantage of it! Learn...
